Risk Reduction
"Risk reduction" refers to the many ways we can reduce risk and increase the safety of those participating in substance use. These ideas can also be called harm reduction, but we prefer using "risk reduction" over "harm reduction." "Harm reduction" assumes harm is a foregone result. The assumption that these practices are inherently harmful is a reflection of the societal stigma people who use substances face. "Risk reduction" acknowledges that there is risk in these practices
